Meet Xinxere — The Gorgeous Chinese-American Zoomer Artist & Her Soulful Music
Estimated Time of Arrival — Issue #16 Living in the grey and fully for yourself. Everything’s gonna be fine.
Good morning sexy beast!
Get ready for a slight overshare by yours truly, Paula Romeu Garcia, in this issue of E.T.A.H — a weekly newsletter where I introduce the hottest up-and-coming artists from around the world and ask them uncomfortable questions…
… Also, I know it’s Friday (oops!) but this Wednesday involved nearly missing a connection flight from Casablanca, being accidentally high on shrooms 30,000 feet up in the air for 7 hours, playing clandestine poker with 3 Morrocan stewards and delighting in free first-class food and beverages.
There was no wifi, or electricity to charge devices and only 2 toilets in the whole plane worked. If you wanna read more about this story you will find it on Medium.
I was flying back from what used to be “home” in Spain to my actual “Home” (capital H) in New York City — back to Snoop Dogg the dog, my wonderful yet rapidly changing life & my beloved New Yorker friends.
Some of whom I’ve interviewed over the last few weeks. If you haven’t yet, check them out, some saucy anecdotes on there too!

Our next guest popped into my radar recently as she’s Molly’s neighbour in Chinatown. Our paths have crossed a few times and she exudes an air of coy confidence, of understated charm, I couldn’t help but notice.
After hearing the first seconds of “Hometown Healing”, I was seduced. She’s one to keep an eye on for sure.
I’m pleased to introduce Xinxere, an up-and-coming Soul and R&B artist and our first zoomer on the show as our next guest at Estimated Time of Arrival.
Trip safely and enjoy 🚀 ✨
Check out her beautiful song “Hometown healing” whilst you read…
The interview went like this.
What bugs you about the world around you but feel we're not allowed to talk about? Or we're not talking about enough?
Living in the gray. Oftentimes life is not all black and white and I think society loves to put you and your experiences in a box.
Do you believe we have free will over falling in love/lust or are those feelings totally out of our control?
Ultimately I think both.
We all try to control it, but at the end of the day, it’s best to just let it be and go with the flow. Feel those feelings, appreciate them, and let it pass.
OR not and let it drive you crazy. (it's still a good thing either way to feel.)
A secret ingredient that makes everything better?
Learning to love yourself (cheesy I know).
This is a research question for my upcoming short film “So Much Laundry So Little Soap” — “Polyamory”. What’s your experience with it? Thoughts on it? Or what have you observed in your circles?
I am currently in one for the first time in my life. I think more young people should try experimenting with it.
People my age, especially straight couples or even singles, are generally really curious about it, but it feels uncomfortable, scary or bizarre since it’s not that common.
It would seem people cheat, lie and stay in toxic relationships more often than trying to find a solution that works for them or they end up breaking up horribly. (I can relate) But trying different types of love dynamics that work for you and your partner could potentially save a lot of relationships for people my age.
You have 48h left on Earth, where would you spend them?
24 hours travelling everywhere saying my goodbyes, the next 24 hours with the people closest to me and going somewhere beautiful and remote in nature to die.
What’s your experience and thoughts on psychedelics?
I think it can be a life-changing and inspiring experience. Personally, I don’t think I’m mentally stable enough to try them yet, but I’d love to one day.
Tell me something curious about yourself you don’t usually tell people or you haven’t thought about for a while.
I used to want to be an astronaut as a kid. I love space so much and find it really fascinating. I told my mom when I was 10 and she said that I had cavities so I could never go to space :(
What’s the most useful advice you’ve ever been given?
Life is too short for it to be mundane, live fully for yourself, and be forgiving towards your mistakes.
As a Gen-Z artist, how do you feel about social media? And more specifically related to your art?
I am chronically on it, but we could all work on being more present.
Social media is such a useful tool for an artist. Use it to your advantage. It’s nice to be able to connect with other creatives, collaborate, be inspired, and share your work with such a wide audience.
What’s the best thing about being a Zoomer?
I think my generation creates change.
We’re not afraid to stand up for things that we believe in, standards and policies that have been set in stone by older generations that don’t necessarily apply to our society these days.
If you had a time machine and could go back 10 years and whisper something into your younger self’s ear, what would you say?
Everything’s gonna be fine.
You will be able to live the life that you truly want and get everything you deserve in the future. Everything happens for a reason.
Describe the world today in 5 words or less.
Morbid, fast, confusing, turning point.
What’s the last film or series that moved you? And why? (It doesn’t have to be your favourite, just that made you feel something and what)
Everything Everywhere all at once. (This is the third time this film gets mentioned, people!)
I am their target audience, but it made me feel proud, validated, comforted, and whole again.
Self-promo station! Go to town! — What are you working on right now? What do you have coming up Where can people check out your work?
I’m taking a break from live shows at the moment, but I’m working on an online show where I compose songs in real-time using AI-generated lyrics, which will be available to stream on Twitch soon!
In the meantime, you can stream my music on all platforms at @xinxere or check out my music video on YouTube!
What artist/s do you love and wish them even more success in their field?
My friend Andrew Akkerman.
He is my favourite person I’ve played with. Crazy talented guitarist and musician. He is a definite prodigy in his art. We don’t necessarily make the same kind of music, but I think he is the most underrated musician that I know of in my circles. @andre_wakkerman.
Life’s getting even more thrilling with the upcoming shoot of my shortfilm “So Much Laundry So Little Soap” — podcast episodes paused for a couple of weeks but will be returning pronto! 🎙️
